Run for the AAPLD Board

We welcome residents of the Algonquin Area Public Library District (AAPLD) to complete and submit an election packet to run for the Algonquin Area Library District Board of Trustees, Three seats on the seven-member Algonquin Area Public Library District Board of Trustees will be open for the April 2, 2019 consolidated election.  These seats are for full, 6-year terms. 

Candidates must be registered voters and residents of  AAPLD. Ideally, candidates should have a passion for moving the library forward to meet the needs of the community in the future.

Please stop by the Harnish Main Library during regular library hours to pick up a potential candidate packet or click here to print the packet at home. The packet consists of completed nominating petitions, a Statement of Candidacy, and a receipt from the McHenry County Clerk indicating that a Statement of Economic Interests has been filed.

Please note the following steps for establishing candidacy:

  • Complete the required information on the attached “Nonpartisan Petition,” including the term sought (6-year term) and make at least 5 copies. Circulate the nominating petitions and obtain at least 50 signatures from qualified voters who reside in the Algonquin Area Public Library District. The candidate must sign the completed petitions in the presence of the notary public.
  • File a Statement of Economic Interests with the McHenry County Clerk and retain a receipt of that filing.
  • Submit a complete election packet to the Administrative Office of the Algonquin Area Public Library District, 2600 Harnish Drive in Algonquin, on weekdays between December 10 and 18. The office is open from 9 am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
