Full-time, hourly, non-exempt, 37.5/hours/week, evening and weekend hours
Salary: $32.00/hour ($62,400.00/year), depending on qualifications and experience
The Algonquin Area Public Library is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented individual to serve as Assistant Director and work as an integral part of the Administration and Management teams. This position serves as second-in-command of the library and oversees the human resources, facilities, and accounting responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will possess a desire to serve and interact with the staff and community; understand the changing roles of libraries in their communities; set priorities, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions; manage time, responsibilities, and pressure effectively; demonstrate good judgment when managing difficult situations; and lead and motivate staff to promote the Library.
Responsibilities of this position include: managing all human resources responsibilities; developing and interpreting library policy; supervising custodians (2) and accounting associate; preparing monthly and annual statistical reports; overseeing staff development and training; working closely with the Executive Director in the management of the Library; and other additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from ALA-Accredited institution
• Minimum three years library experience
• Management, supervisory, or administrative experience
• Successful clearance of a background check and credit check
