Winter Reading 2020

Our Winter Reading Challenge is back, using a software called Beanstack. This program will be similar to previous years, where you will read and complete activities to earn prizes. Winter Reading starts on December 14 and goes through February 1.

If you created a Beanstack Account for 2020 Summer Reading, go to aapld.beanstack.org or the Beanstack app and sign in, then follow the prompts to register for the Winter Reading Challenge. Don’t have an account yet? You can create one yourself or call 847-458-6060 ext 135 (Youth) or ext 143 (Adult and Teen) and Library staff will help you register for the challenge. Once you have an account in Beanstack, you can add readers and select the appropriate Winter Reading program to register for.

A family can register all family members under the same account and sign in using the same username and password. We recommend using your email or Library card number as your username.

How do I participate?

Youth (Babies - Grade 8)

Read for 5 hours to complete the Winter Reading Challenge and earn a paperback book plus an additional prize. For each hour you read (up to 10 hours), you can enter a ticket in a drawing to win one of the youth grand prize baskets!

Teen (Grades 9-12)

Earn 50 Book Bucks/Tickets just for registering for the Winter Reading Challenge! One hour of reading earns you 25 Book Bucks/Tickets that can be used for prize drawings. Book Bucks/Tickets can be entered to win one of the teen grand prize baskets!
