Meet Lynda.com at the Library

As part of our commitment to online learning, the Library now pic_featured_lyndaappldsubscribes to Lynda.com, a website with more than 3,000 courses and 130,000 videos from web design, media production and photography to management, accounting, and marketing. Algonquin Area Public Library cardholders can get all of Lynda’s content for free.

The Library has always been a learning hub for improving computer skills, learning a newcraft, and honing professional job search tactics. But Lynda.com provides another learning hub for all cardholders, this one online, so the learning can continue even when Library locations are closed. The typical cost for an individual subscription to Lynda.com is $19.99, but access is free to all AAPLD cardholders.

You can get to Lynda.com through www.aapld.org. After creating an account – which only requires a name and e-mail address – you’re set. You can watch any videos, download course files, bookmark pages, and keep track of your progress.

Once signed up, you can access Lynda at the library, on your desktop computers or on your mobile devices. The only caveat is that you must use a web browser, not the Lynda app. Questions? Contact the Adult Services Desk at 847-458-6060 x 143.
