Ever wish your library served more than books? The Algonquin Area Public Library District is serving up a menu full of literary flavor and library-themed fun for one day only. The AAPLD Drive-Up Café will be available at both locations on April 1, 2026
Whether you’re craving a full entrée, a snack, or a sweet treat, our menu is stacked with creativity and just a dash of literary flavor.
Disclaimer: Our menu is imaginary, but real snacks—like a bag of chips or cookies, a lollypop, and a limited supply of brownies —will be available at the drive-up window at both locations on April 1. One item per person, while supplies last, for a tiny taste of literary fun!

Entrées
- The Book Club Sandwich – Two slices of aged sourdough, stacked with turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Best enjoyed with lively discussion.
- The Dewey Decimal Dog – An all-beef hot dog in a classic bun, fully cataloged with mustard, relish, onions, tomato, sport peppers, a pickle spear, and a dash of celery salt. Everything in its proper place. Ketchup available by request… but only if your preferred genre is murder mysteries. Staff may judge silently.
- The Quiet Study Wrap – A soft flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a light herb spread. No crunch, no distractions.
- The Paperback Panini – Pressed ciabatta with ham, melted mozzarella, tomato, and pesto. Light, quick, and easy to get through.

- Chips & Chapters – A bag of classic chips paired with a short story to take with you
- Bookmark Brownie – A rich chocolate brownie, marked so you can “save some for later” (you won’t)
- Library Loot – A surprise bonus item, could be a sticker, bookmark, or small giveaway
- Signature Lib Box Packaging – Packed in our classic Lib Box, ready for pickup at the drive-up window

- Chips & Chapters – A classic bag of chips served with a “short story” slip. Light reading, light crunch.
- Spine Fries – Straight cut fries, neatly aligned and easy to navigate. Served with your choice of dipping sauce.
- The Reference Basket – A sampler of fries, fried pickles, wings, and onion rings, paired with two staff-picked titles for your reading pleasure. Reference librarians love recommending reads.
- Sauces: Spine-Tingling Red Ketchup, Spicy Romance Mustard, Biography BBQ, Western Ranch, and Fantasy Fiery Sriracha

- Bookmark Brownie – A rich chocolate brownie with a paper “bookmark” so you can save some for later.
- Overdue Cookies – Fresh baked, gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, a little well done or late, but worth the wait.
- Plot Twist Parfait – Layers of yogurt and granola… with fruit in the middle.
