We have exciting news for digital readers and listeners. Boundless has been replaced with the Palace Project, and the change has officially taken place. The Palace Project is now active and ready for AAPLD cardholders to use, offering an even better experience for accessing ebooks and audiobooks.
What is the Palace Project?
The Palace Project is a national initiative created to strengthen how public libraries provide digital content. Funded by a five million dollar investment from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and developed in partnership with the Digital Public Library of America, the Palace Project is designed specifically with libraries and library users in mind.
The platform builds on the open source Library Simplified system originally developed by the New York Public Library. In short, it was created by libraries, for libraries.
What does this mean for you?
The Palace Project app brings together different types of digital content in one place.
Many popular ebooks and audiobooks work just like traditional library materials, which means you may place a hold if there is a wait list and borrowed titles typically check out for 14 days.
In addition, the Palace Project Bookshelf includes thousands of free titles with no wait lists and no due dates. These titles are always available and can be kept for as long as you would like.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple:
-
Download the Palace app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
-
Search for your library.
-
Log in with your AAPLD card.
-
Start exploring.
If you have questions or need help getting set up, AAPLD staff at both locations are happy to assist.
