The Holiday Season is in Full Swing at AAPLD

The Algonquin Area Public Library District is celebrating the season with a variety of festive programs and community traditions for all ages. From giving back to enjoying dazzling displays and village festivities, there are plenty of ways to share the joy this winter.

The Giving Tree

Now through December 9

Visit either library location to pick up a tag from the AAPLD Giving Tree and help brighten the holidays for children, families, and seniors in our community. Each tag contains general information about a recipient along with a list of suggested items, making it simple to shop for someone in need. After purchasing the items, return the unwrapped gifts, the tag, and a gift bag to either library. Gift receipts are appreciated when possible. Your generosity helps make the season a little brighter for everyone.

Merry and Bright: A Community Tree Trim

December 15 to January 5, All ages

Stop by the Harnish Main Library beginning Monday, December 15, to view this year’s lineup of decorated trees created by local community organizations. Cast your vote for your favorite and help decide which groups take home a trophy. Voting continues through January 5. This annual tradition brings together creativity, community pride, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Miracle on Main

Saturday, December 6 from 4:30 to 7 pm
Historic Village Hall Plaza, 2 S Main St, Algonquin

Gather with family and friends for a festive evening in the heart of Algonquin. Miracle on Main features free activities for all ages, including live holiday music, ice sculptures, reindeer, and the much anticipated arrival of Santa. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the season and celebrate with the community.

Whether you are giving back, casting a vote, or joining in village festivities, the holiday season is shining and sparkling all around AAPLD.
