We took our first journey to visit our friends around McHenry County at the urging of Phineas, he was eager to participate in the 2025 Library Lovers Expedition!
We kicked off our road trip at our Eastgate Branch. Phineas hadn’t been there before, and he had a great time checking out the renovations and new features. From there, we made our way to our closest neighbor, the Huntley Area Public Library, to say hello to some new friends and bid farewell to a longtime friend who is retiring.
Next, we headed to Crystal Lake Public Library to play mini golf and meet Waffles the giraffe. Our adventure continued at the McHenry Library, where we made hearts and tried to find Waldo.
Then, Phineas got really excited as we visited Johnsburg Public Library and were about to meet Sparky Butterscotch! Sparky is also a sloth, and Phineas couldn’t wait to meet his new pal and swap stories about their libraries.
Our final stop was River East Library, which packs a lot into a smaller space. Can you believe they have chickens inside? They even have Skee-Ball and free-throw shooting on their lower level!
Overall, it was a fantastic trip, and Phineas has now checked off six of the fifteen libraries. Where will he show up next? Start your journey and take the McHenry County Library Lovers Expedition!
