AAPLD is honored to have received the 2025 Rehabilitation/Improvement Award from the Village of Algonquin! The award was presented for the Library’s role in improving the Eastgate Branch. The Village noted that libraries are more than just buildings; they are community anchors. Thank you, Village of Algonquin Economic Development Commission, for recognizing the increased value the library brings to our community and neighbors!
In addition to making the Eastgate Branch a vibrant, welcoming spot for all ages, the entire building was renovated to include:
- A new drive-up window
- A full program room
- Dedicated study rooms
- A fun play area for children
- An outdoor patio for warm-weather events
- A cafe
- A quiet area
The project went beyond the building by collaborating with the Village to improve access with parking lot and street resurfacing, the addition of street parking, and a signaled pedestrian crosswalk.
It was our goal to make the branch more inviting and better equipped to serve the community, and we could not be happier that the Village recognized our efforts. The Village of Algonquin is worth investing in, and we are delighted that we are now better able to serve the community.
If you have not had a chance to take a look at the improvements, we encourage you to stop in and check them out. We hope you’ll agree that we deserve the honor of this award!
