FT/PT: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Hours: 37.5 hours/week (regularly scheduled 8-4, some evening and weekend hours required as needed for projects or events)
Wages: Starts at $20.46-$22.50/hour – depending on qualifications and experience

We are seeking a conscientious, trustworthy, and reliable person to fill a full-time Eastgate Branch Technician position on our Building and Grounds Maintenance Team. The ideal candidate will take pride in keeping the Eastgate Branch Library building and grounds looking their best and operating efficiently by contributing to the upkeep and order of our newly renovated facility; work with the Building and Grounds Maintenance Team on building and grounds projects at both locations; be team oriented but able to work independently; and demonstrate initiative, problem solving skills, and good judgment when handling situations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment
  • Monitoring building systems and technology
  • Working with the Maintenance Coordinator to troubleshoot maintenance repairs
  • Delivery of materials between locations
  • Opening and closing building as needed
  • Supporting public and staff programs and events by moving and setting up tables, chairs, and other equipment|
  • Grounds work (including weeding and trash pickup)
  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and set up meeting room furniture and other equipment
  • Ability to follow written and spoken directions in English
  • Licensed to drive in the State of Illinois and able to be insured
  • Demonstrated interest in and ability to learn building and/or grounds maintenance procedures
  • Experience working or volunteering in a support capacity, preferably in a similar position, preferred
  • Reliable transportation
