Visit our picture gallery for a look at some of the programs and activities initated over the past years. History of the Teen Advisory BoardStudents, Trixie Lahaydi and Nigel Vilches, from H. D. Jacobs High School came and asked about Community Service opportunities at the library in September of 2002. There interest was the catalyst that began our meetings! Through word of mouth to their friends and peers, our first "teen" advisory board of 8 members grew to 30 within one year.
Many of these teens were members of Jacobs Interact and National Honor Society which can require up to 100 hours of community service!

These highly motivated teens bring ideas, suggestions, enthusiasm, and energy to the library! They have planned and hosted free programs for high school age students to attend! Some of these programs were Break Dancing, Swing Dancing, card making, scrapbooking, Valentine "Honey Bunny" photos, knitting, ACT Prep classes, International Night, Library Teen Idol, The Teacher's Finals Trivia contest, Students vs. Teachers Trivia contest, After Hours Study Nights, and posing for professional portraits donated by Interesting Developments in downtown Algonquin, to decorate the Teen Scene area!
