History of the Teen Advisory BoardStudents, Trixie Lahaydi and Nigel Vilches, from H.D. Jacobs High School came and asked about Community Service opportunities at the library in September of 2002. There interest was the catalyst that began our meetings! Through word of mouth to their friends and peers, our first "High School " advisory board of 8 members grew to 30 within one year!
Many of our teens are members of Interact, National Honor Society, Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) and home schooled students which can require up to 100 hours of community service as a prerequisite for college entrance!
