Reciprocal Borrowing of Library Materials

The Algonquin Area Public Library District participates in the Illinois Public Libraries Reciprocal Borrowing Program. This program allows residents to visit other public libraries in Illinois and borrow materials from districts in which they do not live or pay taxes. Regulations of the program allow each local library to place restrictions on the number and format of the materials loaned to non-residents. The Algonquin Area Public Library District, its Board of Trustees and staff readily and willingly share its materials with residents from other library service areas. However, there are restrictions on the use of materials. It is our
responsibility to provide for the taxpayers of this district first, just as it is the responsibility of your home library to provide for your library needs.
