Interlibrary loan is an adjunct to, not a substitute for, the library’s collection. The library will use local resources first, including its own collection and those of the CCS

INTERLIBRARY
BORROWING
The Algonquin Area Public Library provides interlibrary loan service for all Algonquin Area Public Library cardholders.
Requests for interlibrary loans may be made in person, electronically, or by phone. Materials available from CCS may be requested directly from the library’s catalog.
Patrons may have no more than ten (10) WorldCat interlibrary loan requests in process at any given time.
The library will observe any conditions for use of loaned materials imposed by the lending library (e.g. in library use only). The loan period and renewal options are determined by the lending library. Renewals for non-CCS materials must be requested from the Adult Services Staff. Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library and cannot be guaranteed.
.
Any fees charged by the lending library for borrowed materials will be the responsibility of the patron. They will be informed of these charges beforehand. If accepted these charges will be applied to their account, regardless of whether or not the material is checked out.
All material formats may be requested in-state. However, material such as new items, archival materials and audiovisual materials may not be available. Audiovisual materials and graphic novels will not be requested from out of state libraries.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN
LENDING

Certain audiovisual formats will not be sent out of state. Items from our collection can be requested through our catalog by individuals holding a card from a CCS library. Other individuals must submit a request through a library.

A fine schedule is available from the Circulation Department. If interlibrary loan material borrowed for an Algonquin cardholder is lost or damaged, the patron must pay the replacement cost of the materials plus a processing fee.
