Customer Service Associate – Eastgate Branch
20 hours/week – includes daytime, evening and weekend hours
The Eastgate Branch Library seeks a Customer Service Associate to greet and direct library patrons to materials and services, register patrons for library cards, check in/check out materials, accept payments for fines and fees, and perform other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and experience with computers. High school diploma required.
Library Associate – Harnish Main Library
25 hours/week – evening and weekend hours required. Flexible schedule a plus.
Salary: 14.90/hour (DOQ)
We are looking for a friendly, flexible, customer-service-oriented person to join our vibrant Youth Services Department. The Library Associate’s main job focus will be to work at the Youth Services Desk and help parents and children (baby through 8th grade) with reader’s advisory, homework and technology questions. He/she will also coordinate assigned projects and assist with Youth programming.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Public library and SIRSI/Workflows experience a plus. Experience working with children and knowledge of children’s literature. High level technology skills.
Early Literacy Librarian – Harnish Main Library
Full-time, 37.5 hours a week – includes weekend and evening hours
Compensation: $22.70/hour (DOQ), plus complete benefits package
The Algonquin Area Public Library District seeks an enthusiastic, well-spoken individual to coordinate children’s literacy best practices within its Youth Services Department programming and services. This person will be a team player in creating and coordinating early literacy initiatives, programming and promotions. Must have the ability to help foster pre-reading skills in our youngest patrons and educate/support parents and caregivers.
Knowledge of current research on early literacy and development of literacy programs for children is required. Knowledge of PLA’s ECRR skills, ECRR2 skills and associated programming, and the Common Core Standards – and the ability to teach, demonstrate and share these skills with Library staff and the public. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience teaching and training children and adults.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution required. A background in education is a plus.
